Walton Zed

Walton Zed emerges as an emblematic figure in the panorama of traditional animation, a true alchemist of moving images. Trained at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he excelled, graduating with honors, Walton Zed has never been satisfied with staying within the confines of his art. His extraordinary talent goes beyond artistic excellence; he is a scholar, a visionary, a professor who instills passion and wisdom in future generations through teaching Movement Anatomy, Animation, and Stop Motion. His dedication is unparalleled, bringing with him an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a tireless commitment to perfect every detail, every nuance of movement, transforming each of his works into an unprecedented visual experience.

In the world of animation, where digital technology increasingly dominates, Walton Zed stands out for his tenacious adherence to Cel Animation, a technique that requires uncommon mastery and almost hermit-like patience. Each frame of his works is the result of a meticulous manual process, where the pen meets celluloid in a fresco of artistic precision and visual narration.

Every project under his guidance becomes a visual masterpiece, a symphony of movements and colors that speaks directly to the soul of the viewer, elevating the art of animation to new heights. Walton Zed is not just a pillar of cel animation film production; he is a pioneer, a master who continues to inspire with his vision, his commitment, and his ability to turn every story into a visually extraordinary and emotionally engaging artwork.

How Cel Animation Works

The technique of cel animation, short for celluloid animation, has ancient origins and is deeply rooted in the history of animation. The earliest forms of animation date back to the 19th century with the invention of devices such as the phenakistoscope and the zoetrope, which created the illusion of motion through a rapid sequence of static images. However, the true revolution in cel animation occurred in the early 20th century with the emergence of animated cinema. Pioneers like Winsor McCay, Max Fleischer, and Walt Disney began experimenting with the technique of drawing on transparent acetate sheets to create more fluid and realistic animations.

In the 1920s and '30s, during the golden age of animation, cel animation became the standard method for producing cartoons. Iconic classics such as "Steamboat Willie" featuring Mickey Mouse (1928) and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937) were created using this technique. With the advent of computer graphics in the 1990s, cel animation began to be complemented and sometimes replaced by digital animation techniques. Today, cel animation is considered a vintage art form and a tribute to the history of animation that we will bring back to life.
